It looks like we have an AirPods 2 release date - Friday 29 March, four weeks from today.
The leak has come via a source who shared a stocklist with Applesfera that seems to suggest that 28 March is the last date the current AirPods will be on sale.
For several weeks we've suspected that Apple will hold a Spring event in late March and many sources have reported date of 25 March. However, Apple normally does its launches on a Tuesday aside from the main keynote at its developer conference (WWDC).
So we're expecting an announcement of AirPods 2, AirPower and possibly new iPads on 26 February. It is the same day as Huawei will launch the P30 and P30 Pro in Paris, but we expect the two events to miss each other because of time differences.
As we've said in our extensive AirPods 2 feature, we expect the upcoming AirPods to be very similar to the existing model aside from the addition of a wireless-charging case so you can wirelessly recharge the AirPods with the also-new AirPower charging mat.
We also believe the new earphones will have some health-tracking features as well. There may also be a sweatproof fitness-orientated version, too, although a version with noise canceling will likely be with us at a later date instead.
